Hi y'all!

This will be a lot less of a post, especially compared to our weekend in Savannah/Tybee.

We played it pretty cool this weekend at the Hain house. Mostly because in about four days we'll be heading out to South Carolina for our vacation at Myrtle. And yes, we're totally looking forward to it!

This past week Athens has been movin and shakin from the annual Athfest. We decided to go downtown and see what it was all about.

The kids really enjoyed bouncing off some energy, and we really liked the sounds, sights and smells. But it was pretty hot outside so we didn't stay out too long.

Like I said, this'll be a short post. But just a little side note: it has been a full year since we moved our world into Georgia. We couldn't be happier and we are so proud to be Georgians. But we also remember where we came from, and want to give a little shout out love to our Midwest roots.

a little beach trip

This weekend we made a trip to the south. About 4 hours south to be exact. And why, you may ask?

For Savannah and Tybee Island. A little piece of heaven if you ask me. You did ask, didn't you?

The number one rule when you visit Tybee Island-you have to let loose and put the mindset in chill mode. 

In other words, reeeelaaaxxxx.

The kids had no problem adapting to the beach life.

On Sunday we stayed inland and toured around Savannah.

We also drove by many of the Savannah squares. Then we stumbled upon the Mercer house.

 Now, if you haven't already heard about the real events that happened in this house, well you can get a brief story HERE. But I highly recommend reading the book about owner Jim Williams who had all kinds of awful luck in this house in the book titled 'Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil.' A good summer read. But if you are like my husband, there's a movie out too that you can watch instead. But I promise, the book is much better. Sorry, Kevin Spacey.

And of course we had to look up and gawk at all the beautiful dripping spanish moss.

Not a bad way to spend Father's Day.

i promise, i really haven't fallen off the face of the planet

The past few weeks have gone by pretty fast. Mostly because I'm in orientation, and as silly as it might be, I am exhausted after sitting in a classroom for most of the day. I know, silly right?

This weekend we "went into town" as Mark calls it.

Another big highlight was seeing Mark's parents for a while. It's so nice to see familiar faces in our little piece of the world, and our new home :)

and then...

I know it probably seems like we bought a house, then bam end of story. No, it's just all that moving that has been zapping all our energy. Well, sort of.

Last week I said good bye to my first nursing job out of school. It was bittersweet as I have come to know so many wonderful people. It really was a great place, but it was just my time to go.

After that we had a nice, relaxing weekend.

And our first overnight guest. Funny, our house is really starting to come together as a home. Our home.

And of course while my sister is in town, we must go shopping. You know the usual local shops and a trip wouldn't be complete without a journey to IKEA. Did I mention how much I love that place? 

And how much we loved this pink Katelynn-sized couch at a local shop.

Otherwise we've been hanging out here at our new home. Getting used to the sounds, sites, and plenty of fun to be had.

We've even be able to coerce the kids to come shop at our new favorite store: Lowe's. Well, second best to IKEA of course. 

And another great thing...blueberries in our backyard. Yep, this will be really easy to get used to. Y'all come on over this summer for some blueberry pickin' :)

I can't leave out the evening tea and watching the sunset from our front porch.

 I know this is so Kansas, but there really is no place like home.
