For some reason it hit me hard tonight….
This will be the first year we don't go back "home" for the Holidays.
And if it wasn't for my Grandma making a trip out here to see us next week, I may have gone into major melt down mode.
As I have gotten older, I've come to treasure traditions and celebrations. Call me sentimental. Call me a girl. Mostly just call me Aimee, this is who I am.
Anyway, I had this moment to myself tonight when I shed a few tears thinking about the fact that we'll be missing out on Dad Hain's infamous eggnog. We'll miss the cousin gift exchange. The piling up on couches watching Christmas Vacation with the whole family, reciting lines that we know by heart. We'll miss eating home cooked meals next to loved ones while catching up on the year. We'll miss the charm cake… no, not the charm cake! Well, here I go again…let me grab a kleenex.
When I get a little down about what we may be missing out on this holiday season, it's time for a little rallying in our house.
Tonight we brought out the "Christmas Decorating" phase two: Tree Ornament Roll Call
We turned on a Christmas movie, I warmed up some apple cider. Game on.
Completed phase one today. Our house is totally feeling it now.
Now I'm feeling a little better.
Except I just looked at the score of the Saints vs Seahawks game.
Where are those Kleenexes….
