let it snow

Something unexpected and out of the ordinary happened today.

It snowed.

In Georgia.

Wait, what?

It went something like this…through the weekend we heard rumors that there may be a slight chance of snow this week. I kind of played it off like, "eh it's just high hopes." Then yesterday everyone kept telling me "it's going to happen, snow is coming." At this point I thought maybe flurries, but nothing really worth worrying about. We're from Kansas. Land of snow, ice and we still send the kids to school. Then this morning when I heard coworkers were packing up overnight bags to stay over at the hospital I was all "y'all are crazy, seriously?" When 10 am came and went without a flurry in sight I thought it was a big joke.

Then it came.

The snow actually came. We are still having snow fall and it has accumulated on the weaving hills and untreated streets around us. Now I get it, now I understand the big hoopla. Our kids are ecstatic about having a snow day tomorrow.

We decided to get out and let them enjoy our first Georgia snow since we've arrived.

It was like meeting up with an old long, lost friend.

One of those friends who has a great sense of humor. A little mischief, a little tag you're it.

If snowflakes were a food, I'd say M&M's and skittles rained today. They couldn't get enough.

At one point Caleb said, "I knew it, I knew it would snow. It was my birthday wish that we'd get snow in January." My heart.

We hope everyone can get out there, make a snow angel, maybe a snow ball and enjoy this piece of magic right now. I know it's no big deal. It's just cold white powder. But to some, to many of us, it's more than that. It's a wish come true. And taking it all in, sipping hot chocolate, is one of the many joys in life.

Drive safe Georgia. In fact, don't drive. Just don't. Wait til it melts, you know in a day or two.
