To say the least this week back from spring break has been an adjustment. We are in official "full throttle" mode and whenever life puts you in the fast lane you still have to know how to get to that shifter every once in a while. Because eventually you'll need to slow down...for a turn into Dunkin Donuts no less.
Slowing down for the moment has given me the chance to take a breath, look around.
And right now, happiness is...
eating a bowl of fruity pebbles cereal
opening up the windows
discovering essential oils
reading chapter books together before bed
buying the movie Frozen
watching trees peak out buds
Yes I think I can safely say, spring is finally coming.
Today we went to Caleb's final pinewood derby race. We had high hopes for the green speedy car, and though it won two races today, Caleb unfortunately did not receive a trophy or advancement to district. He was disappointed to say the least. But with moments like these, comes opportunity for learning...
A conversation in the car coming home from not getting a trophy at the final pinewood derby race...
Mom: It's okay Caleb, you worked hard and did your best. You may not have won the race, but you won life skills like giving it your all and cheering on others.
Caleb: Yeah I guess.
Katelynn: Don't worry Caleb, I'll draw you a trophy for winning life skills.
I love our kids.
After the race, we decided to get ourselves outdoors in the fantastically fresh spring air.
Someone has a very suspicious loose tooth...
Hope everyone was able to take a moment, slow down, and look around for a while. Because we know how important those stops are...enjoy it before the on-ramp finds you again. And for all those bicyclists out there...I'm jealous.
