the best day

I must say, I am a very lucky woman.

A wonderful, loving husband.

And two unbelievably beautiful, smart and lovely children.

They made me feel so special. And I love it.

My Mother's Day was absolutely wonderful!

I received adorable gifts...
From Caleb: "Dear Mom, Happy Mother's Day! I love you. I love you even {if} your in the hospital taking care of people. Love, Caleb  PS. How many are you helping?"

From Katelynn: Little Flowers and a pot...AND grass that grew even while her project sat in a brown paper bag.

Katelynn also had her preschool program last Friday.
Our baby will be going to the neighborhood elementary school next year for Pre-K.
Where did the time go??

And Katelynn with her absolute best friend, Sadie. These two were inseparable!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. And lots of love to all those Mom's out there. You're all my hero's!

Have a great week y'all!

sudorific

A confession:

So I am a HUGE nerd and get daily emails from dictionary.com.

You know to seem worldly, expand my vocabulary, throw in incredibly non-useful words in everyday conversation. Otherwise known as I went in with big expectations and haven't gotten around to unsubscribing myself from their email list.

Well today I got an email of today's "word of the day." It caught my eye before deleting.

Sudorific.

Sudorific.

How incredible is this word, right?

For all those (like me) who don't already toss this word around in their everyday conversation, and therefor do not know it's meaning:

1. Causing sweat.
2. Sudoriparous.

Hmm, sudoriparous...

I'm not writing this post to start a new-word-of-the-week posting schedule. That's a thought...
Instead, it's to remind us all to make sure we are making ourselves sweat.

I just recently had to do something extremely difficult. Something that caused me so much anxiety and sleepless nights (or days). I didn't know how I was going to do it. Didn't know if I would survive it. Okay, so I'm being a little dramatic. But it was painful. It was for the good of me and my family. I had to do it. I wanted to do it. And as much as I dreaded it I did it. I made myself sweat.

I got through it, and I am better for it.

You remember that time in your young life when you learned to swim? It was terrifying. But you needed to do it. Wanted to do it. And it wasn't until you had to do it, that you finally did it. Well I think that little fragment of time of going forward, and doing-instead of thinking, agonizing, and negotiating your way out of it. That single moment when you step up to the challenge. Make yourself pour out perspiration in worry, fear, anxiety, strength and willingness. That is when you find yourself. Find that inner strength that lets all else go and you take the plunge. You swim.

It's sudorific.

But it's life.

We all have to do things at one time or another that makes complete and perfect sense, but we still hesitate. We hang on to the edge. Keep the lifesaver wedged between us and what we want. What we need. We're afraid that we don't have what it takes. But you want to know something?

We do.

Oh we soo do.

Go out and find what makes you feel alive. I'm not saying start up dangerous hobbies of base jumping or parachuting. But find out what you can do to make your life better. And don't be afraid to get it.

Find your strength.

Turns out it is directly linked with sudorific.

But hey, it's just your body's way of saying, "hell yeah, I'm in!"

short and sweet

Okay, so this title is going to sum it up.

This weekend went by like they always do-way too fast.

And because it did, I was awful about getting my camera out to snap up pictures to capture the memories. I know, so unlike me, right?

Well, here's some of our weekend in pictures.

Saturday was all about Caleb. We had a soccer party, celebrating the end of a great season. After the parent-kid soccer game (sorry, no pictures) we had pizza and Caleb received his first trophy (again, no pictures).

A few short hours later we were heading out to Caleb's scout Court of Honor. He received several awards and we were so proud of our little scout.

He also finished his first "real" book. Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He'll have you know its 217 pages, and he finished it within a week! Smart kid. Okay, he's not so little.

Sunday the girls went over to our friend Angela's house. We had some great fun counting rocks, watering flowers (or killing them), and chasing our cat friend "Sigmund" aka "cinnamon." We also made delicious cookies.

So much great fun. Katelynn absolutely cannot wait to go back.

Well, I promise next week I'll bring out my camera more. Sometimes I think to myself "oh, I should be snapping pictures" and then the moment is gone. I suppose we all have that problem. I think this blog continues to be a driving motivating force for me to snap, click and write our memories down. For that I am thankful. Otherwise it will 20 years down the road and I would be kicking myself.

I declare my love...

Can I just spend some time on this platform?

I love our kids.

They are my greatest accomplishment.

Nothing in my life will hold a candle to the flame that burns in these precious little beings.

They will grow. They will break my heart. They will disappoint. They will capture every emotion and then some inside of me. They will bring my love to a whole new level. They are my heart living outside of my body.

From the moment I found out with each of them that they were a mere grouping of cells growing, unstoppable, inside...I was in love.

And I will forever be.

They are such a miracle. They are lovely.

My husband.

How lucky am I?

We were so young when we met, and when we married. We had no clue. Well, baby, we had no idea of the greatness that was on our path ahead. And I'm so glad we went with our intuition and started that journey together.

He's such a great Daddy. The kids and I are so very lucky.

Since I'm on the love train....

Other loves-but not in comparison at all to the above mentioned loves-right now:

Pandora brazilian radio. Love it. I feel like I'm in Eat Pray Love right now :)

50 Shades of Grey...enough said. What? My Grandma reads these posts. Sorry, Grandma.

Afternoon naps. They are highly underestimated. And highly necessary for the night shift worker.

Coffee with friends. I am so excited to have friends. You have no idea how grateful you are until you move.

Boxes. Packing boxes. More to come.

Lavender...lotion, body wash. It's so heavenly.

My iPhone. It continues to be a worthy investment.

And that is all for now.

Let the loving feelings flow on. Oh my, that was cheesy.

"You've spent your whole life running and running, trying to catch up with something that has never been there for you. And all you've done is go farther and farther away from the precious love that's been waiting for you all the time."

getting out

This weekend we did a lot to keep ourselves outdoors.

And the air was sweet, the sun warm. Perfect for our mission.

Madison gave us a good excuse to get out and explore. I don't think you'll ever find me opposed to visiting this beautiful town.

Sunday we got out to go to a birthday party. Pirates with foam swords and skull eye patches invaded the area. Just another lazy Sunday.

And then we ended the day the only way we know how to end a weekend...breakfast for dinner.
Yeah, I said it.

We hope everyone was able to enjoy the weekend.

Happy week y'all!
