new direction

Lately...

I've been trying to adjust to being a day-shifter.

I've been trying to live healthier.

I've been made aware of a few health issues I have that need some attention. 

And all this is requiring some sort of transformation on my part. I'm ready, trust me, I am. I just feel like I need something. Space to think, spread out my thoughts, ideas, wins and losses. You get the idea. Anyway, this is what I'm going to do. I'm going write. This is who I am.

And so we begin.

Goals:

-strength train
-cardio
-eat more vegetables
-cut out soda
-scale back on processed food
-cut sugar
-sleep better
-include protein at every meal
-lose 30ish pounds, tone and trim

Well I guess we'll go from there. 

Right now I'm working a very active job. Three days a week I am on my feet almost 12 hours straight. I am trying to strength train 2-3 days a week...as long as there is rest and recover in between. Cardio I'm tagging onto my workouts...20 minutes three days a week after my lifting. Sometimes I'll put in more time, depending on the week. And all this will change as school starts up and the kids are in school. My hope is to be at the gym longer on those three days. 

As far as diet. Well, that's a work in progress. I'm going to finish up a 12 pack of cherry coke zero (a weakness) then work on cutting out all soda. I feel like if I can give up the diet drinks it'll help me cut out any regular soda indulges that come with it. I also want to work on cutting processed white flour foods. Late night snacking/eating is also a problem area of mine. I'd like to start swapping ice cream bars for fresh fruit if I'm needing that something sweet at night. 

So that's where I am right now...the long and short of it. Hopefully I'll be able to turn on that healthy "switch" and start my journey toward a healthy lifestyle...
