On Monday we decided to trek south a little until we came upon the palm trees and ocean breezes of Tybee Island and Savannah. This little corner of our state never ceases to give us just what we want: a little escape and lovely scenery.
The sun feels good here.
While we were out on the beach we caught glimpses of military aircraft...
And they would drop off these little specs in the sky...parachuting drills. That's one way to enjoy the summer. Unless you're like me and terrified of heights.
The palm trees waved "hello."
And we even saw a few fins in the water...we're thinking dolphins.
Savannah was a fun stop, with our cousins that just moved to the area. We met up and welcomed them to the peach state. I don't know what it is about this city...it's magical in a way. Maybe it's all the history. Maybe it's the drapey Spanish Moss. Maybe it's the fact that you can feel the city's soul open up and expose itself with little glimpses of cobblestone street and lines of architecture. I've never been anywhere like it. And who knows, maybe I haven't traveled enough to put it into perspective. Dear Savannah, You've got it going on.
The cousins...
Thank you for such a wonderful trip, we enjoyed seeing you and your sweet family Amanda =)
