Caleb had his first football game this weekend (video will be coming soon). He really enjoyed it and did really well! We had a lot of fun watching and Uncle David, Aunt Kathy, Claire and Haley came to support Caleb.


Katelynn had her first dance lesson this week and she absolutely loved it! She's taking the class at the local Y and we were very impressed with the dance instructor there. It should be a fun experience for her!


I'll keep this post short but will conlcude with a few fun phrases from the kids:

Katelynn: "Mommy I'm not a scardy cat.......I'm a scardy puppy!"

Caleb: "Mom you are so sweet. I'm saying nice things about you-today's your lucky day!"

Katelynn: "I have sleepy eyes."
Mom: "Do you need to go back to sleep?"
Katelynn: "No, eyes just sleepy"

Late update

We've been in the "zone" now with fall schedule in full swing. Over the last week we've been able to have some fun though :)

Last Friday the kids and I went down to the Little Hooker to meet with my Mom, Grandma and Grandpa Kindt and see our cousins from Colorado-Keith, Shirley and Jenna. We had good food, good pie and of course a good time visiting!

Saturday we were able to see our good friend Landon, from the army. He and his family have been stationed in Germany, but he made it back for a short while for a 6 week advanced training school close-by. It was so nice to see him and catch up. We also went to the K-State game in Manhattan last Saturday for the first game of the season. And what a good start to the season-they beat UCLA!

Katelynn is geared up and very excited about her new jersey...she pats it and says "my team!"

Tuesday evening I got a call from my Dad with some bad news- he managed to break his wrist while playing a baseball game. He had surgery Thursday morning and his prognosis looks good. He's just taking it easy (with the help of some pain meds) and will have to adjust to life with just one arm for 6 weeks.

Tomorrow is Caleb's first flag football game and he couldn't be any more excited! He has been doing really well at their football practices, and Katelynn and I enjoy watching on the sidelines :)

Other than that, we've just been trying to keep up the pace and I'm still trying to snap pictures along the way ;-)

I apologize for the delay in posting...actually this will probably be the new norm as school has officially begun! This week has been an adjustment back to nursing school...trying to remember meds, protocols, what to do with this patient, etc etc. Good news is, I found out my clinical rotations and I will be at Prairie View in Newton for my Psych rotation in the beginning of the semester, then out at Kansas Heart for the second half of the semester for my Cardiac rotation. Both I am sure will be great learning environments.


Caleb has been going full-force in 1st grade. He's been reading more complex words, and more fluently (we're hoping the glasses have paid off). This week he also started flag football practice. Oh when did he get so big?! He absolutely loves it. Most importantly he loves his coach, who has impressed Mark and I already with his knowledge and devotion to setting up fundamentals with the players. Funny story...when Caleb woke up at 6:00am one morning this week I escorted him back to bed and told him he needed to go back to sleep. He replied with
Coach said we needed to get up at 6...
I didn't recall the coach saying anything like that, and Mark and I chuckle when we think of the next thing Caleb may say that the "coach" said. However it may work if we add at the dinner table, "Caleb coach said you need to eat all of your green beans." =)


Katelynn has been keeping busy around the house. She has really taken an interest lately in painting, coloring, and anything involving coloring books. She has picked up quite a few words lately, mostly silly ones she learns from brother. Lately her little inside joke, (or we assume), is to talk about "pickle juice." She'll say it any chance she gets and just laughs and laughs. She also loves pointing out and talking about shapes, the alphabet, and can count up to 14. Not sure why that's the magic number. With Caleb at school (and now myself), we are trying to come up with ways to keep her active throughout the day. She's been a big helper to Daddy though, even helping with the laundry!

Good hair day...

I apologize in advance, this is a really girly post, however I just had to brag on one point in particular. For all those that know Katelynn really well you understand that she does not sit still for much of anything. Especially when I try to do something fun with her hair, aside from the "ordinary" ponytail. Well today, for the first time, I was able to actually braid her hair! (I warned you about the girly post :) I had to show it off because it may be a while before I'm able to do it again:

Then I went in today to get my hair done and came out with red streaks! (Don't worry I meant for that to happen). Anyway, thought I'd show it off also because the photo will last longer than the color.

The idea is very ambitious, however unrealistic for most of us to consider, you can't help but wonder....

So, I am getting ready to start back up at school next week. Part of me is very excited and cannot wait to start this last year of nursing school, the other part of me is rather terrified and would rather live in summer-mode forever.
