After a long work-week, we decided to do some exploring around our new surroundings. Saturday, we started out at Sandy Creek Park, which has over 782 acres of beautiful forest, including a nice size lake. We decided to venture out this cloudy afternoon to do about a mile's worth of hiking. A little bit of rain got to us, but we were lucky to be deep enough in the beautiful tall trees which acted like a giant umbrella. Though with the summer heat, the cool refreshing rain was appreciated.
Never works out just right. I promise, we're all there.
| you could almost feel the sweat from this picture, right? |
And a few attempts to get us all in the picture...
Sunday found us with an inkling for more adventure. We drove 45 minutes toward Atlanta, into a nice city called Lawrenceville. There we watched the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves take down the Indianapolis Indians 11-5.
After the game, the kids had the chance to run the bases. They both loved being on that baseball field.
And yes, amazingly, they both made it to home plate...safe!
And we're gearing up for our last full week of summer. Caleb starts second grade *insert tear* a week from tomorrow. Katelynn will start preschool *gasp, tear* two weeks from tomorrow. Oh, all the new glue sticks, backpacks, lunch pails, paper and pencil to be had. They just can't wait! I love the start of a new school year. The potential, and excitement for new friends, new teachers, and school lunch...oops, did that slip out?...
It's a strange feeling to not be grabbing last minute school supplies for myself. It's starting to hit me that all that work of school, studying, staying up late (which I'm still doing, by the way), has landed me here. In a big-girl job. Okay, career. Okay, profession. Whichever way. Just hard to believe I don't have a class schedule or syllabus in front of me to memorize right now. That's life, I guess.
And we keep on going...
Have a great week, ya'll!
