Black and white.
This necklace has a history. I bought it on one of the trips to Athens. When Mark and I would drive the long 16 hour trip, trading places at the wheel. When we would finally get to our destination we would be exhausted. Beyond exhausted. It would usually take us a day to recover. But when we were able to, we would get out and about. The funny thing is, when we came here to visit, the conditions were perfect. The weather would be glorious. The people kind and helpful. All good experiences that eventually led to our move here. One day when we were strolling the streets of downtown, and going in and out of the one-of-a-kind shops that lined the streets, I stepped into a local jewelry shop. I loved everything about this shop. Every piece of jewelry made by local artists...the man sitting behind the counter that told stories of the little town that captivated our hearts. I bought this necklace at that quaint little shop. The three pearls in a nest symbolizing the three most important people in my world. I wore this necklace all through the rest of nursing school. It was a way to connect back to Athens. To restore hope when I felt overwhelmed with the task ahead. It worked. And it's held a special place in my heart ever since.
Quote of the day:
"We cannot change our past. We can not change the fact that people act in a certain way. We can not change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude."
-Charles R. Swindoll
